Nancie K. Schwarzman

Berkshire Hathaway New England Properties

136 East Putnam Avenue

Greenwich, CT 06830

Besides uniting families with the perfect home to call their own, Nancie Schwarzman, a realtor with Berkshire Hathaway New England Properties, has spent her 31 years living in Greenwich giving back to the school system that nourished her three children.

“My three children all went to Whitby, and I became so enamored with the Montessori approach that dedicating time to raising funds for the school was natural for me,” said Nancie. “I headed the annual fund for many years, co-chaired a capital campaign, co-chaired a head of school search and chaired the board portion of the accreditation process amongst other initiatives.”

Nancie also has the experience to compare the pros and cons of public and private school.

“My son went on the Greenwich High School and my daughters both went to Rye Country Day School, so I have had experience in both the local public and private schools,” said Nancie.

Nancie has been a realtor since 2004. She came from the world of advertising and public relations in Boston. Later she lived in Dallas, Tex., where she worked for both large advertising agencies and a private urban real estate developer. This gave her the insight into both the service side and client side of the business.

Nancie would later spend a few years out of the work force to raise her children. She feels fortunate to have had that option.

“During those years I worked as a volunteer for several different local non-profits including The Bruce Museum, Whitby School, Rye Country Day School, Arch Street Teen Center, and Planned Parenthood of Southern New England,” said Nancie.

Nancie was a trustee for many years at Whitby and the Teen Center. She currently sits on the board of Planned Parenthood of Southern New England because she is passionate about women’s healthcare. She has been heavily involved with fundraising, because she believes in taking care of the organizations that have taken care of her and her family.

“Two of my children started at Rye Country Day in 7th grade and I have always felt that if you belong to a community, whether it be a school, a place of worship, a work place, that it is important to invest your time and talent to make it stronger,” Nancie said. “There is a lot of reward in that commitment.”

It’s important to make that same kind of investment in her clients by giving them the best guidance she can to help them make the best decisions, she said. She believes there are many good realtors in Greenwich and that sense of dedication and investment in the clients is what makes them successful.

Nancie recently sold houses at 35 Pine Ridge Road in Greenwich; 26 Grove Street in Cos Cob; and 20 Thomas Place in Rowayton.

“While Greenwich has changed in many ways over the 30 plus years that I have lived here, one thing that has remained the same is the commitment that residents have to supporting our many institutions,” Nancie said. “The level of volunteerism is tops in the state and within Fairfield County. It reflects a lot on the culture of this community that so many who live here give back to make the town and its many institutions as strong as they are.”

According to Nancie, that is the reason working with buyers who are considering moving to Greenwich is such a pleasure.

“Not only do we have our waterfront and beaches, first rate schools, myriad parks and recreational facilities, an extensive library system, a symphony and museum and institutions of so many kinds offering a range of support services and activities, we have a community of residents who care about Greenwich and who donate so much of their time, talent, and treasure to making it the best it can be,” Nancie said. “It is easy to ‘sell’ that.”
