Greenwich Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones announced that Ms. Kristina Remy has been named interim Special Education program coordinator, effective immediately. She replaces Mr. Harry Burg who left the district at the end of 2025.
Ms. Remy will be providing assistance to building administrators, general education staff, and Special Education staff to increase access to the curriculum for students with disabilities. She will review and recommend supplemental curriculum materials, evaluate curricular options for non-academic instruction, and promote universal access in the development of curriculum and instructional activities. In addition, Ms. Remy will plan, coordinate, and provide professional learning for certified and non-certified staff and will be an evaluator for certified Special Education and related services staff. She will report directly to Chief Officer of Special Education and Student Supports Dr. Stacey Heiligenthaler.
“Kristina Remy has been a great addition to Greenwich High School since she joined the district in 2022,” Dr. Heiligenthaler said. “We expect an easy transition to this role, continuing to promote a positive culture and climate in the Special Education and Student Supports Department.”
Since 2022, Ms. Remy has been a Special Education teacher at Greenwich High School where she has provided academic support for students with learning differences. Her experience as a Special Education teacher goes well beyond GPS. For the past 20 years, she has taught in Connecticut at Middlesex Middle School in Darien and Eagle Hill School in Greenwich, and in New York at Elizabeth Seton Children’s Center in Yonkers, Pathways School in Eastchester, and The Westchester School in Yonkers.
“As interim Special Education coordinator, my goal is to strengthen a culture of collaboration that ensures every student’s unique needs are understood, valued, and supported,” Ms. Remy said. “I will work closely with families, educators, and service providers to expand access to high-quality programming and to enhance student success at the secondary level.”
Ms. Remy holds a bachelor’s degree in Childhood Education/Psychology and a Master of Professional Studies in Special Education (1-6) from Manhattanville University and a Master of Science in Education in School Building Leadership from Manhattan University. She also holds 092 and 165 certificates, and is certified as a school administrator and teacher.
