
According to the Greenwich Police Department, an ATM service engineer was a robbed at gunpoint shortly after midnight on Wednesday night.
Police say that at approximately 12:30 a.m., an ATM service technician was loading the exterior ATM of the Chase Bank located at the intersection of West Putnam Avenue and Dearfield Drive. The technician had the cabinet open when suddenly a suspect appeared from behind the service technician’s work van brandishing a pistol. The victim fled on foot and was unhurt. The victim then contacted the police and upon arrival of the officers, the suspect was gone with a yet to be determined amount of cash from the ATM.
The victim describes the suspect as a white male approximately 6-feet tall, heavyset and wearing a bright (possibly yellow) hoodie, sweatshirt and dark pants. According to police reports, the suspect had the hood drawn tightly across his face obscuring his features.
