On Sunday morning, the Greenwich Alliance for Education’s Storymobile was struck by a fallen tree, making the RV no longer operable.

The Alliance’s early literacy vehicle hit the road in 2008 and was a delightful mobile classroom for thousands of Greenwich’s preschool children. No one was inside the RV and no one was hurt when the tree fell on the Storymobile.

“This is sad news for the Alliance”, says Julie Faryniarz, Executive Director. “Our Storymobile serviced over 300 children every year and was a part of the early literacy programs of 7 area preschools including Head Start, making multiple visits to the schools each year. This program was offered entirely free to the preschools it served. For now, we will figure out if we can move inside at the schools to deliver this curriculum-rich program filled with stories, songs, vocabulary and poetry taught by our talented presenters.”

Early literacy remains a high priority for the Greenwich Alliance for Education and the Alliance pledges they will figure out another way to reach our town’s youngest learners. To make a donation to the Greenwich Alliance for Education, visit www.GreenwichAlliance.Org
