Whitby School celebrates the achievements of three Lower School students who earned perfect scores in the 2024–2025 Continental Math League (CML), distinguishing themselves as National Student Winners. Archie (Grade 2), Leela (Grade 3), and Vivian (Grade 4) each achieved flawless performances across all CML meets this year. Nationally, Archie was one of just 54 perfect scorers in his grade, Leela one of 31, and Vivian one of only 21.

When asked about their experience, the students agreed that participating in the program is challenging but fun and makes them better mathematicians. “Because of my participation in CML, I have the confidence and new math skills to help my classmates during our math lessons—and that makes me feel good,” said Leela.

This year, sixteen students from Grades 2 through 4 participated in the program. Whitby selects five to six high-achieving math students from each grade to take part in CML as an after-school enrichment opportunity. The initiative complements Whitby’s core curriculum and reflects the school’s commitment to differentiated instruction.

Participation in the Continental Math League also lays a strong foundation for future academic opportunities, including middle school competitions such as MathCounts.

Through programs like CML, Whitby School continues to empower young learners to reach their full potential, embrace challenges, and celebrate academic excellence in mathematics.
