Due to the continued “extreme” fire danger in the State of Connecticut, the Greenwich Fire Department has issued a ban on all outdoor burning within the Town of Greenwich.
This includes, but is not limited to, the use of fire pits, outdoor grilling (either with charcoal or with embers) or any open flame. Please exercise extreme caution, especially when disposing of smoking materials outdoors, disposing of fire place ashes and the use of powered motor equipment when clearing leaves.
Please be aware and use caution when you are parking your vehicle on or near any leaf piles.
An emergency burn ban remains in effect for all Connecticut State parks, forests and wildlife management areas. This prohibits the use of all outdoor grills, fire pits and campfires, kindling and the use of flame outdoors.
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, along with local agencies, is still monitoring several areas across the state. Since October 21, a total of 144 brush fires have been reported in the State of Connecticut.
