Christ Church Greenwich celebrates the 90th anniversary of its choirs with a special concert on Saturday, June 1, at 5:00 PM. The event will feature performances by six combined choirs and alumni, conducted by James O’Donnell from the Yale Institute of Sacred Music, Philip Moore, former Organist at York Minster, Jamie Hitel, Director of Music, and Jonathan Vaughn, Associate Director of Music.
Over 100 choir members, ranging from ages 5 to 80, will perform a diverse program including works by Henry Purcell, Hubert Parry, Charles Villiers Stanford, Lynda Randle, Undine Smith Moore, John Rutter, and Judith Weir. The new Harrison and Harrison organ, with 86 stops, will enhance the concert’s sound.
The choral program at Christ Church, led by Jamie Hitel and Jonathan Vaughn, provides music for over 100 services annually. The program is praised for its high quality, akin to any English cathedral choir. The choirs also follow the Royal School of Church Music curriculum, achieving significant awards in music theory, choral technique, and liturgy.
Tickets for the concert are available at $25 for general admission and $50 for sponsors, with free admission for students. For more information, visit https://www.christchurchgreenwich.org/music-events
