Arline Belicka Whitaker, 86, of Farmington and Mystic, CT passed away October 20th at L&M Hospital. She was married to Lucius (Buzz) Milan Whitaker, Jr. in 1961. She is survived by her daughter, Lindsey; son-in-law, Daniel Brennwald and her only grandchild, McKenna Brennwald, who she loved to the moon and back; her brother, John Belicka, Jr., and wife Sue of Stonington. She was predeceased by her son, Lucius Milan Whitaker III in 2019. She leaves behind many extended family members and very dear friends.
Arline came to Farmington to be with Buzz after a short teaching career in Greenwich, CT where she grew up. Arline was a pillar in the Farmington community for many years. She served on the Town Council for 14 years. She had a vision for the town, open space, rails to trails, a new middle school, new police station to name a few of the accomplishments she completed. She was a member of the Farmington and Hartford Garden Clubs which inspired her to become a Master Gardener and she was passionate about sharing her knowledge. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years, some with her granddaughter in tow. She was such a gift to her family and she will be missed by those she touched.
