Years ago, this reporter compiled an anthology of quotations of care and concern for the earth stretching across 2000 years of environmental awareness.
This week: “I return my bottles, own a small car that uses less gas, insulated my house – that’s environmental action.” If everyone did this, we’d save millions.
The late Elvis Stahr of Greenwich, as told to this reporter in 1982.
Stahr served as president of the National Audubon Society for 12 years, quadrupling its membership, and previously served as Secretary of the Army under President Kennedy. He died in 1998.
