Music on the Great Lawn
June 16, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 6:30 pm on Thursday and Friday, repeating until September 8, 2022
Greenwich Historical Society’s Music on the Great Lawn concert series gets underway June 16th with The Sun Kings’ tribute to the Beatles. Join friends and family with a picnic on the lawn while listening to the sounds of the band that changed the course of music when they exploded on the scene in the 1960s. The Connecticut-based Sun Kings will duplicate their tight harmonies, fancy guitar and solid backbeat to create the signature Beatles sound and the excitement and nostalgia of the era.
Originally scheduled to open the series, but cancelled due to inclement weather, the Merlin Band, led by Greenwich’s Bob Capazzo, is rescheduled for June 23rd. Known for their rock classics and engaging high energy, raise-the-roof style, Merlin’s versatile approach will span various musical styles and appeal to all ages.
The Music on the Great Lawn concerts are held at the Greenwich Historical Society’s Cos Cob campus at 47 Strickland Ave., from 6:30 – 8pm. Grounds open at 5:30 for picnicking. Additional performances follow through September 8th, featuring many of the area’s most beloved ensembles: Billy & The Showman, 6/30; King’s Highway, 7/14; Suburban Chaos, 7/28; Bob Button Band, 8/16; Gunsmoke 8/25 and Demolition Band, 9/8.
