Patricia McGovern, a longtime Fairfield resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 3 at Middlewoods of Newington. She was 85 years old.
Patricia, an identical twin, was born to Anna and Albert Courtney in 1936 and was the oldest of four daughters. Pat was a longtime parishioner at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Fairfield.
She is predeceased by her parents and her husband, John R. McGovern. She is survived by her three sisters, Marianne (Villien), Carolyn (Stalters), and Teresa (Phimister); as well as her children, Deborah Kelleher, Karen McGovern, Noreen McGovern, Kevin McGovern, Edward McGovern and Todd Meier. Pat was the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren and great-grandmother of 5.
Pat will be buried alongside her husband at St Mary’s Cemetery in Greenwich, a town where she lived for over 20 years.
Friends and family paid their respects on Thursday, April 7 at Spear-Miller Funeral Home, Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Church hall, Fairfield the following morning on Friday, April 8.
