Alexandra Holmyard

Alexandra (Sandra) T. Holmyard, 98, of Greenwich, wife of the late Harold R. Holmyard, died peacefully at home on March 22.

Mrs. Holmyard was born on Aug. 2, 1923 in Pasadena, Calif., daughter of Margaret and Alexander B. Todd. She grew up in Pasadena and attended The Westridge School. Moving east, she attended Bennett College in Millbrook, New York and Finch College in New York City.

During World War II, Mrs. Holmyard served in the Women’s Air Reserve Division in Honolulu, Hawaii.

A Greenwich resident for over 70 years, Mrs. Holmyard was active in town politics, the Junior League and the Garden Club. She also served on the board of the Bruce Museum, the Temple of Understanding and the Greenwich Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Belle Haven Club and a past member of the Field Club and the Round Hill Club.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Frederick C. Tanner, and is survived by two daughters, Alexandra Tanner of Greenwich and Fredericka Tanner of Sudbury, Mass. as well as a stepdaughter, Page Farrell of West Palm Beach, and a stepson, Harold R. Holmyard III of Dallas, Texas. She had four living grandchildren.
