LWV Greenwich Hosts Lecture on Women and the Economy

The League of Women Voters of Greenwich announces the next event in its Distinguished Professor Lecture Series. On Wednesday, January 28, LWV Greenwich will host a reception and presentation by nationally-recognized educator Dr. Natalia Smirnova, Associate Professor of Economics at UConn Stamford, on women and the American economy. Dr. Smirnova will be introduced by UConn President Emerita Susan Herbst.

The event will be held at Greenwich Town Hall – Meeting Room, 101 Field Point Road.
6:30 PM Refreshments and LWV Greenwich Networking; 7:00 PM Presentation; Q&A to follow the presentation.

Every day, women make countless economic decisions — what to buy, where to spend, what to save, and what to support. But how often does one stop to ask: What informs the choices they make? This talk will explore how women are influenced by economic systems as consumers, workers, investors, and voters. How do women’s purchasing decisions shape markets? How do economic policies affect women differently? And how can greater economic awareness lead to meaningful change — locally and nationally?

The program will challenge assumptions, spark conversation, and leave you looking at your own economic choices in a new light. Dr. Smirnova will address inflation and unemployment, labor force participation, the gender wage gap, and savings and retirement.

This LWV Greenwich event is open to the Greenwich Community and is free of charge. Registration is required via the LWVG website: https://lwvgreenwich.org/content.aspx?page_id=4091&club_id=784813&item_id=2794876
