S.E.L.F. Presents Two Webinars Supporting Families & Students With Special Education Needs

Parents, educators, and mental health professionals are invited to participate in two free, solutions-focused webinars hosted by the Special Education Legal Fund (S.E.L.F.) this January. These virtual events are designed to equip families with practical knowledge related to school placement options, transition planning, and preparing for a child’s annual meeting to review goals, objectives, and supports.
Webinar 1: The Pinnacle School – High School & Transition Programs
Date: January 8, 2026
Time: 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

Free Registration: https://bit.ly/SELFPinnacleWebinarJan82026
This webinar will provide an inside look at The Pinnacle School’s high school and transition programs specializing in supporting students with language-based learning differences, executive functioning challenges, and social-emotional needs. Attendees will learn how Pinnacle’s academic model, therapeutic supports, and transition services work together to help students build confidence, independence, and readiness for life after high school.
“Families are often searching for an environment where their child can not only learn but truly thrive,” said S.E.L.F. Staff Attorney Laura Sullivan. “The Pinnacle School’s high school and transition programs offer a uniquely supportive structure – one that blends rigorous academics, individualized instruction, and intentional preparation for adulthood. For many students, programs like Pinnacle are transformational.”
Participants will hear from school leadership and specialists who will discuss admissions considerations, student profiles, programming highlights, and how families can evaluate whether a specialized high school or transition program is the right fit.
Webinar 2: Planning Your Annual Special Education Meeting
Date: January 14, 2026
Time: 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Free Registration: https://bit.ly/SELFAnnualPlanningJan142026
This practical workshop will walk parents through how to prepare for their child’s annual Planning & Placement Team (PPT) meeting – the annual review where goals, services, and supports are updated. Topics will include understanding data, evaluating goal progress, strengthening home–school communication, and developing a proactive approach to advocating for individualized supports.
“The annual meeting is one of the most important moments in a student’s special education journey,” said Sullivan. “Parents often wonder how to prepare, what questions to ask, and how to ensure the plan truly reflects their child’s needs. Our goal is to demystify the process and help families walk into that meeting informed, confident, and ready to collaborate.”
Attendees will gain concrete tools and templates to help them organize concerns, review documentation, and articulate priorities for the coming year. The webinar is appropriate for parents navigating the PPT process for the first time as well as those seeking a more structured approach to advocacy.
