Town of Greenwich Issues Winter Storm Warning

The Town of Greenwich Office of Emergency Management is advising residents to prepare for a significant winter storm expected to impact the area from Friday evening through Saturday morning. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Fairfield County from 4:00 PM Friday until 1:00 PM Saturday.

Forecasts indicate 4–8 inches of snowfall across the region, with peak snowfall rates of 1–2 inches per hour possible during the height of the storm. Portions of western Connecticut could see total accumulations of 7–11 inches.

Snow is expected to begin late Friday afternoon and intensify rapidly between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM, transitioning from light to heavy snowfall. Road conditions may deteriorate quickly, particularly in southwestern Connecticut.

Meteorologists note the snow is expected to be dry and fluffy, meaning even small shifts in the storm’s track could lead to notable changes in snowfall totals.

Travel Impacts
Major travel disruptions are possible, especially during periods of heavy snowfall. Snow-covered and slippery roads may develop quickly.

Residents are strongly encouraged to:

  • Plan ahead and complete necessary travel before the storm begins

  • Limit travel during peak snowfall if possible

  • Monitor local forecasts and official Town communications for updates

The Town of Greenwich will continue to provide updates as conditions evolve. Residents are urged to remain cautious and take appropriate steps to ensure their safety during the storm.
