RMA Presents “Rooted in Care, Growing with the Community: Greenwich Hospital’s Journey Ahead”
Robert Blenderman, president of Greenwich Hospital, traced his journey from a working-class upbringing and frontline clinical trauma work, including during September 11, to senior hospital leadership shaped by an MBA that revealed the financial and strategic “backstage” of healthcare. At Greenwich Hospital, he is leading a post-COVID redefinition focused on restoring volume while preserving a highly personal, patient-centered culture, emphasizing visible, hands-on leadership and quality as the hospital’s “True North,” with national top-tier rankings in patient outcomes. His strategic priorities include rebuilding core community services like pediatrics and primary care, expanding oncology through a major Smilow Cancer Center build-out, growing ambulatory and surgical capacity, and preparing for a future centered on complex, high-acuity care, including trauma, geriatrics, and advanced technology such as robotics and AI.
