Perrot Memorial Library announces the launch of its Library of Things (LOT), a new collection of non-traditional library items available for checkout. Designed to broaden the Library’s offerings and strengthen its role as a community resource, the LOT provides access to useful, practical, and fun items that patrons might not otherwise purchase or have room to store.

“With the Library of Things, we’re expanding what a library can offer to its community,” said Library Director Trish Tomlinson. “Whether you’re trying a new hobby, hosting an event, or needing a tool for a one-time project, the LOT gives you access without the expense or environmental impact of buying something new.”

Perrot’s LOT supports a growing national movement toward sharing, sustainability, and equitable access. By encouraging borrowing instead of buying, the collection reduces waste, promotes a culture of reuse, and offers patrons the chance to explore new interests and try equipment without financial barriers.

“The collection features a range of items, like a bird watching backpack, 100-inch movie screen, record player, lawn games, and even a bouncy house,” explained Trish. “Items circulate for either one week (express) or three weeks (regular), and new offerings will be added as the collection expands.”

Greenwich residents with a valid Perrot Memorial Library or Greenwich Library card may borrow from the LOT by visiting Perrot’s Adult Circulation Desk during regular business hours.
