The Greenwich Alliance for Education’s 2025 Turkey Trot, held Saturday, November 29, marked a landmark year for the beloved community tradition, drawing 1779 participants, the largest turnout in the event’s 15-year history. The generosity of runners, walkers, families, sponsors and donors also resulted in a record-setting fundraising to support programs benefiting Greenwich Public School students.
This year’s event introduced a joyful new addition— the Mini Trot for children ages 3–5 — which quickly became a crowd favorite and set the tone for a festive morning across all three races. The one-mile walk/run and competitive 5K race followed with exceptional performances, including an historic milestone: a new men’s course record, with Riverside, CT’s Kyle Grieve finishing 15:20.3, setting an exciting benchmark for future races.
“The extraordinary turnout, enthusiastic community spirit and generosity we witnessed this year truly exceeded our expectations,” said Julie Faryniarz, Executive Director of the Greenwich Alliance for Education. “From the excitement of our inaugural Mini Trot to the record-breaking performances on the 5K course, the entire morning was a celebration of community, fitness and support for Greenwich Public Schools.”
The Turkey Trot once again celebrated athletic achievement across all age groups. In the 5K, top male and female overall finishers (Kyle Grieve, Riverside, CT, 15:20.3; and Zara Geddes, Greenwich, CT, 18:36.2, respectively) were recognized. In the 1 Mile, Owen Harvey (from Greenwich Country Day School) and Sadie Mayhall (from Eastern Middle School) were the first male and female finishers.
