This fall, Greenwich Botanical Center welcomed 574 Greenwich Public School 4th graders for an immersive Art in Nature Assured Experience Field Trip, designed to spark curiosity and inspire students through the intersection of art and science.
During their visit, students painted watercolors while overlooking the pond, used colored pencils to capture the intricate details of natural objects found in the fern forest, and explored the current exhibition in the GBC Gallery while learning the fundamentals of art gallery etiquette.
Through hands-on observation and creative experimentation, students experienced firsthand how the practices of scientists and artists overlap; both rooted in careful examination, inquiry, and discovery.
This year’s program was made possible by a generous grant from the Springer Foundation, which covered all student costs and ensured that these students could participate in this enriching educational experience.
