The Retired Men’s Association of Greenwich (RMA) volunteered their time to support the League of Women Voters Greenwich (LWVG) during the recent Board of Selectman debate Monday, September 29th. The League of Women Voters is a 501(c)(3) non-partisan organization and does not support or oppose any political party or individual candidate for public office.
The RMA will also volunteer for the upcoming LWVG sponsored Board of Education debate on Monday, October 6th and the Board of Estimate & Taxation debate on Thursday, October 9th. All town debates are held live at the Greenwich Town Hall from 7:00pm to 9:00pm, which can also be viewed on town GCTV channels.
The League of Women Voters Greenwich, an organization dedicated to fostering informed and active civic participation, partners with local volunteers to assist with voter events and are accessible to all residents. The LWVG sponsors town debates to bring community members eager to hear from both candidates on key issues facing the town.
The eight volunteers from the Retired Men’s Association of Greenwich assist at the debates as timers, and enjoy contributing to what is an orderly, respectful, and community-focused atmosphere. “We believe strongly in supporting civic engagement and democratic dialogue,” said Troy Johnson, Communications and Publicity Chair of the Retired Men’s Association of Greenwich. “Our members are proud to contribute their time to an event that helps voters make informed choices about local leadership.”
The collaboration between the RMA of Greenwich and the LWV Greenwich highlights a shared commitment to strengthening democracy through open discussion and public service. Both groups look forward to continuing to encourage civic involvement throughout the election season.
The League of Women Voters Greenwich will be present at the upcoming Retired Men’s Association of Greenwich meeting on Wednesday, October 8th to share candidate information and answer questions on voting registration, district locations, and other related content.
