Special Education Legal Fund (S.E.L.F.), a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering families and ensuring equitable access to education for children with disabilities, announces two significant initiatives this fall to support families in Connecticut and Westchester County, NY.
Free Webinar: “The New S.E.L.F.”
On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., S.E.L.F. will host a free online webinar titled “The New S.E.L.F.” This session will introduce families to S.E.L.F. staff attorney, Laura Sullivan, and will focus on the organization’s expanded mission while highlighting the resources and services available during the 2025–2026 academic year.

Our mission is to equip families with the tools and support necessary to ensure their children receive the education they deserve. Our programs and webinars are specifically designed to achieve this goal,” said Christine Lai, Executive Director of S.E.L.F.
2025–2026 Program Launch
Beginning on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., S.E.L.F. will start accepting prescreen applications for programs available to qualifying families in Connecticut and Westchester County, New York. During the 2025–2026 academic year, S.E.L.F. will offer:
- Legal Aid
- Attorney Grant

Advocate Grant
These initiatives offer direct support to families as they navigate the complexities of special education, ensuring access to professional advocacy and legal assistance when it is needed most.
Christine Lai emphasized: “Our goal is to level the playing field for families by providing financial and advocacy support where it’s needed most. These grants ensure that children with disabilities are not left behind, but instead have access to the services they need to thrive.”
