From First Selectman Camillo and Drew Marzullo, president of Greenwich Community Television, regarding the decision from Optimum to move the station from channel 79 to channel 1310:
“As part of a major reshuffling of channels on Optimum cable channels, Greenwich Community Television (GCTV) will be moving from Channel 79 to Channel 1310, effective Aug. 21, 2025.
The Town of Greenwich is strongly opposed to this move and believes it will confuse viewers and limit access to the channel, which broadcasts government meetings and community events, and is vital to transparency and public involvement.
“We are deeply disappointed and confused by this decision,” First Selectman Fred Camillo said. “Unfortunately, we have checked and apparently there’s nothing we can do to change Altice’s mind about this arbitrary move.”
GCTV’s management was not given any chance to oppose this arbitrary and unfair change.
“We are not happy about this move,” Drew Marzullo, President of GCTV, said. “We were not consulted before Altice, which owns Optimum, made this change.”
For more than 20 years, GCTV has broadcast town meetings and community events and has kept residents informed about their Town government. Its sister station, Greenwich Channel 78, covers the work of the Board of Education and is also being moved to channel 1305 on the Optimum lineup.
GCTV has live broadcasts of Board of Selectmen, Representative Town Meeting, Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Estimate and Taxation meetings, including the yearly Town budget public hearings and votes.
Marzullo said the decision to move the channel will create a major inconvenience and cost for the local station. GCTV operates on a shoestring budget mostly made up of grants from Altice, through fees collected from cable subscribers, and Town money allocated through the budget.
“Right now, we’re just trying to let our loyal viewers know about the impending move,” Marzullo said. “We know there will be some confusion but are hopeful our viewers will find us at our new channel.”
This change will not affect anyone who watches GCTV on FIOS Channel 24 or on AT&T Cable. GCTV will also continue to stream on its YouTube channel, where meetings will still be streamed live and videos of past meetings and community events will remain for on-demand viewing.”
