On June 26, 2025, the Bruce Museum held its Annual Meeting of Members. Board Co-Chairs John C. Hart and Karen S. Keegan conducted the meeting and, along with the Museum’s newly appointed Susan E. Lynch Executive Director Dr. Mary-Kate O’Hare, reported on the accomplishments of the past fiscal year.
Having just joined the Museum in April, Dr. O’Hare expressed her evolving vision for the Bruce where art, science, and history are integrated, stating: “It’s precisely this unique intersection that drew me here. As I get to know the Bruce and all the wonderful people who are connected to it, I envision a laboratory for innovation where boundaries between disciplines dissolve. I also see it as positioning Greenwich as home to a truly exceptional cultural institution that distinguishes itself both regionally and nationally.”
During Fiscal Year 2025, the Museum originated several exhibitions including “Conservation Through the Arts: Celebrating the Federal Duck Stamp,” “Tara Donovan: Aggregations,” “Kenji Nakahashi: Strange Beauty,” and “On Thin Ice: Alaska’s Warming Wilderness” which remains on view until October 19, 2025, alongside “The Art of Work: Painting Labor in Nineteenth-Century Denmark” which can been seen until November 30, 2025. These exhibitions were visited by nearly 100,000 guests and enjoyed by a membership that has grown 127% since the Museum reopened after renovations and expansion in 2023. Coming in the fall will be monographic shows for artists Ursula van Rydingsvard and Leonard Drew. The next major science exhibition is entitled “Ants: Small Creatures, Big Lives.”
First-term trustees joining the Board in the Class of 2028 are Scottie Bonadio, R. Alec Dawson, Patricia B. Gallardo, Alan Gilbert, Michael Grunberg, Angela H. Ho, Joni Steele Kimberlin, Caity McLaughlin Lischick, Susan V. Mahoney, Linda Zwack Munger, Richie Prager, William F. Ruprecht, and Heidi Brake Smith. Jacqueline Adler Walker was elected to a second term while Laurie Rubin was transferred from the Class of 2025 to the Class of 2027. Elected by the Board and joining the incumbent officers will be Charles M. Royce as Vice Chair and Abiodun Tobun as Assistant Treasurer.
“The incoming trustees bring exceptional commitment and deep expertise, which is critical to shaping the Bruce’s vision for the future. We look forward to working with all our trustees, with Mary-Kate O’Hare and with our excellent staff as we lead the Museum in its next stage of extraordinary growth,” said the Board Co-chairs, John Hart and Karen Keegan.
This same evening members celebrated the opening of the newest exhibitions, “Jeremy Frey: Woven,” the first retrospective of the Passamaquoddy artist’s work, and “iCreate 2025,” the Bruce’s annual juried exhibition showcasing exceptional artistic talent from high school students across the region. Both shows close on September 7, 2025.
