Dear Greenwich Residents,
On behalf of all of us at the Greenwich United Way – our Board, staff, and volunteers – I want to extend a heartfelt thank you.
Because of your generosity and commitment to our community and our mission, the Greenwich United Way recently awarded more than $640,000 in grants to 24 local non-profits addressing critical needs in health, education, and self-sufficiency – the top priorities identified through our Community Needs Assessment. These grants are part of a longstanding tradition dating back to our founding in1933. In just the last 20 years, your support has helped us direct more than $50 million into our community through grants and programs.
Each grant we award is backed by a rigorous, volunteer-driven review process that ensures every donor dollar is maximized. Our Community Investment Process (CIP) – led by dedicated local volunteers – carefully examines each non-profit organization’s f inances, program design, and expected outcomes. This thorough analysis ensures funding goes to programs with the greatest potential to improve lives and meet real needs.
Thanks to your support, this year’s grants are making a difference in many ways, including:
· Providing transportation so students at Title 1 schools can access essential after-school programs
· Making affordable, high-quality preschool childcare available to working families
· Expanding behavioral health resources for young adults ages 18-25
· Supporting local efforts to combat food insecurity
· Helping individuals secure the job skills necessary to obtain stable, long-term housing
We take your trust seriously. Every grantee is held accountable through follow-up reports at six months and one year to ensure our shared resources are being used effectively. Our volunteers devote months of thoughtful work to each funding cycle, reviewing applications, asking tough questions, and ensuring that every dollar aligns with our mission and your intent.
We know the needs are great and only growing. While difficult decisions must be made each year, one thing is constant: we couldn’t do any of this without you.
Thank you to our donors, our volunteers, and our community partners. Your continued support fuels real, measurable impact. Together, we make Greenwich the incredibly special town that it is.
With Gratitude,
David Rabin, CEO
