A big thank you to Senator Ryan Fazio and Representative Tina Courpas for hosting the end-of-session town hall at the Greenwich Town Hall last Wednesday (7/9).
It was encouraging and informative to hear firsthand about the important work happening at the state level. The candid discussion on both the progress made and the ongoing challenges—particularly those related to the budget and affordable housing—was invaluable. Despite being unsuccessful, I especially commend their bipartisan effort to send HB5002 back for revision, as they recognized the importance of creating affordable housing while also preserving local control through home rule. Finding common ground across party lines is not only admirable— it is the foundation of effective and enduring leadership.
Their push for transparency in the legislative process—ensuring legislators have adequate time to review and understand proposed legislation—is equally vital to maintaining public trust.
To Senator Fazio: thank you for your strong advocacy in reducing energy costs in Connecticut. Your perseverance in making energy pricing more transparent is already bearing fruit, and the coming rate reductions offer real hope for families and businesses alike.
To Representative Courpas: your dedication to special education is deeply appreciated. The clarity you brought to the conversation about budgeting and its real-world impacts was immeasurable. Your expertise and advocacy are a tremendous asset to our community.
Thank you both for your continued service and commitment to thoughtful, inclusive governance, and for your steadfast defense of Greenwich’s interests in Hartford. Events like these strengthen the vital connection between constituents and their representatives.
