The Reverend Phoebe Oler has been named Associate for Children and Families at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church by the Rev. Dr. Justin E. Crisp, rector. A graduate of Yale Divinity School and Berkeley Divinity School at Yale, she was ordained a deacon in June 2024 and a priest on January 11, 2025, at Christ Church Cathedral in Hartford.
Rev. Phoebe, a Greenwich native, grew up singing in the St. Cecilia Choir of Girls at Christ Church Greenwich and notes, “The Spirit in sacred choral music carried me through rough waters in my childhood and young adulthood. I am grateful for this early spiritual formation and look forward to sharing the delights and mysteries of God with the people of St. Barnabas.”
A graduate of Choate Rosemary Hall, Rev. Phoebe graduated from Boston University with a degree in anthropology before receiving her master’s of divinity at Yale. She worked at Kids in Crisis in Greenwich for two years before becoming Associate for Children and Families at St. Barnabas. Regarding our young people’s social reality, she says, “The blessing of the Digital Age is that humanity is more interconnected than ever before. At the same time, we are becoming more physically isolated from each other. Jesus calls us to Unity with all people, but this requires meeting in the flesh. I am especially passionate about teaching this to our youngest members of society.”
