The YMCA of Greenwich announces a new partnership with SuperPower Mentors, a one-on-one mentorship program dedicated to supporting students with ADHD, Dyslexia, Autism, and other learning differences. This collaboration is part of the YMCA’s broader initiative to offer inclusive resources that help children, teens, and adults of all abilities thrive.
“Growing up with learning differences, I know firsthand the importance of having healthy outlets that build confidence in and out of the classroom,” said Jake Sussman, Founder and President or Superpower Mentors. “And now having the opportunity to partner with the Greenwich YMCA, a place families come to help their children find physical confidence, together we’re able to offer members a way to grow their kids’ confidence beyond their walls.”
Through this partnership, YMCA of Greenwich members and families will have access to exclusive discounted rates for SuperPower Mentors’ services. The program pairs each student (ages 10 through college and beyond) with a mentor who shares a similar learning difference and common interests—creating authentic, empowering relationships that foster growth and confidence.
“We are so excited to partner with SuperPower Mentors to offer this unique resource for members of our community,” said Kelley Gordon-Minott, Senior Director of Youth Development at the YMCA of Greenwich. “Navigating today’s society is challenging for our youth for a variety of reasons, and having a learning difference can often add additional layers of challenges for families. Through the power of mentorship and partnership with parents, SPM provides a model, a guide, and a village of support that creates a meaningful and connected environment for a young person to build confidence, skills, and unlock their potential. In so many ways, this aligns with our values here at the YMCA of Greenwich.”
To introduce the program and its benefits, the YMCA of Greenwich will host a free information session on Wednesday, June 12, 2025 at 6:30 PM. The event will be held at the YMCA and led by Jake Sussman, who will speak with families about strategies to help students avoid the “summer slump” and prepare for long-term success. Attendees will have the chance to meet the SuperPower Mentors team, learn more about the mentorship model, and discover how the program can help their child thrive.
