Greenwich Alliance’s commitment to Greenwich Public Schools – Strong Since 2006

Greenwich Alliance for Education was founded in 2006 by a group of community members concerned about the persistent achievement gap. The Alliance became the local education foundation for the public schools. With encouragement from the superintendent the foundation addressed the socioeconomically diverse school system by giving access to programs and services students needed to be successful. Today, 90% of program dollars reach under-resourced students in the district and all students enjoy the benefits coming from many innovational grants touching STEM, theater & visual arts, college preparedness, mental health & wellness, and others. Today, more than ever we need to support public education and through the Greenwich Alliance for Education - the local education foundation - this is possible.

The Art of Deception: How Forgeries Challenge Authenticity in the Art World

Art forgeries have plagued the art world for centuries, exploiting vulnerabilities such as high prices, institutional reputations, and expert egos, with some estimates suggesting that up to 40–70% of artworks in museums and collections may be inauthentic. Advances in forensic science and artificial intelligence have improved detection methods, but forgers continually adapt, creating a perpetual cat-and-mouse game between deception and authentication. Notorious scandals, like the Knoedler Gallery case and the exposure of historical forgers such as Han van Meegeren and Elmyr de Hory, underscore the ongoing tension between authenticity and forgery, prompting ongoing reflection on the true nature of art and expertise.
