To the Editor
As a long-time resident of The Nathaniel Witherell, I feel compelled to share what this place truly means – not just to me, but to so many others who call it home. I’ve lived here for fourteen years. This isn’t just a facility; it’s my home, and I know it will be my last. Before me, my mother lived here until her late 90s. This place cared for her, and now it cares for me with dignity, compassion, and love.
The people who work here are more than staff, they are family. The volunteers have become dear friends. Our Recreation and Rehab teams lift our spirits and keep us going. Every day, they give not just their time and skill, but their hearts. That kind of care is priceless.
As we age, our voices often grow quieter in public discourse. But that doesn’t mean we have nothing to say. The Nathaniel Witherell is a vital part of Greenwich’s legacy and its future. One day, many of the town’s leaders and residents will rely on the same kind of care we receive here. This is a place Greenwich should be proud of – a reflection of the town’s values and humanity. I hope it remains in the town’s hands, protected and cherished like the treasure it is.
Sincerely,
Michael Forte
