The opportunity to volunteer in your community is one of the great joys of life. Volunteer opportunities abound in Greenwich and the community deeply values its volunteers. After moving to Greenwich in1983, I learned about the community as a volunteer with several of its extraordinary non-profit organizations including Greenwich Hospital, The Junior League of Greenwich, Greenwich United Way, and the Friends of Nathaniel Witherell.
These organizations are part of the fabric of the Greenwich community, and they individually and collectively support residents at every stage of their lives. From children to seniors, Greenwich strives to care for all its residents.
I joined the Friends of the Nathaniel Witherell Board and discovered a wonderful group of committed individuals, admirably led by Board Chair Dave Ormsby, who wanted to ensure and promote the wellbeing of seniors. The members of the Friends Board believed that by offering Greenwich residents and their families exceptional residential care, memory care and rehabilitation services, that The Nathaniel Witherell was simply another reflection of the greater community’s commitment to the welfare of all residents.
Public and private support for The Nathaniel Witherell is a time – honored tradition. Greenwich residents value Witherell’s role and generously supported its first capital campaign: “Project Renew.” As one of the campaign co-chairs, the campaign’s success was a proud moment. The community spoke and expressed its unwavering commitment to one another and its deep respect for its seniors.
Supporting The Nathaniel Witherell is a clear indication of what the community values and a responsibility we all share.
