The Bruce Museum announced the selection of Moses Ros as its second Artist-in-Residence (AIR). With generous support provided by Art Bridges, this residency program furthers the Museum’s commitment to fostering creativity, supporting emerging talent and engaging the community in meaningful artistic dialogues.
The Museum will host Moses Ros as Artist-in-Residence for six months, from Feb. 10 to Aug. 15. During this time Ros will interact with work featured in “Blanche Lazzell: Becoming an American Modernist” through in-person gallery activations and his studio practice. The artist will also participate in audience building programs including open houses, family days, community partner programs and speaking engagements. After the residency, Ros will have an exhibition of work created during the residency in the Museum’s Susan and Bill Mahoney Gallery Lobby
Stephanie Rice, the director of public programs and a member of the selection committee for the AIR noted, “After reviewing the large number of applications for this year’s artist in residency program, Moses Ros was chosen as our 2025 Artist-in-Residence because we felt his commitment and experience working within communities perfectly complements the mission of the Bruce. We also felt his use of vibrant color and abstract shapes in his work dovetailed nicely with our “Blanche Lazzell: Becoming an American Modernist” exhibition which he will use as inspiration during his residency.”

About the Artist-in-Residence:
Moses Ros is a sculptor, painter and printmaker of Dominican descent who lives and works in New York City. He creates artworks to lift the human spirit, using luminous colors, dynamic shapes and interactive elements.
Ros has had solo exhibitions at the Sugar Hill Museum, the Bronx Museum of the Arts and the Yeshiva University Museum in New York, as well as the Paterson Museum in New Jersey. He has also exhibited in the Yoryi Morel Gallery of the Institute of Culture and Art in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
Ros began printmaking at The Bronx Printmakers and has worked at some of the top printmaking workshops in New York, including The Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, Lower East Side Printshop and The Manhattan Graphics Center. He is a founding member of Dominican York Proyecto GRAFICA and the ArteLatAm artist collectives.
Ros has received several public sculpture commissions from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, the Bronx Council on the Arts and the New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority. His artwork is part of public and corporate collections, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, El Museo del Barrio and the AT&T Collection.
Ros is a registered architect in New York and earned his bachelor’s degree in architecture from Pratt Institute.
