The Old Greenwich Rummage Room Celebrates 60 Years of Service

The Old Greenwich Rummage Room, a beloved thrift shop and community outreach ministry, is celebrating 60 years of service to the community. Founded in 1964 by the Women’s Fellowship of The First Congregational Church of Greenwich, the Rummage Room has been a cornerstone of charitable giving, sustainability, and community spirit in Old Greenwich.

To honor this remarkable milestone, The First Congregational Church of Greenwich will celebrate the Rummage Room’s legacy during Sunday Worship on March 9, at 10:00 AM. The service will reflect on the shop’s six decades of impact, highlighting the generosity of donors, the dedication of volunteers, and the lives transformed through its mission.

“For 60 years, the Rummage Room has embodied the values of faith in action—offering affordable clothing and goods, supporting countless charitable organizations, and fostering a sense of community,” said Rev. Patrick Collins. “We invite everyone to join us as we give thanks for its past and look forward to its future.”

Since its founding, the Rummage Room has raised millions of dollars for local and global charities, providing crucial support to organizations that serve those in need. Beyond its financial contributions, the shop has promoted sustainability by giving second-hand goods a new life and has provided a welcoming space where neighbors connect.

The celebration on March 9 is open to all, and the church encourages past and present volunteers, shoppers, and supporters to join in this special occasion.
