Letter: An Open Letter to the BET

Dear Members of the Board of Estimation and Taxation,

Historically, our town has thrived under Republican leadership with low taxes and effective governance.

However, if this budget increases taxes, further ballooning school budgets despite declining school performance, or facilitates large developments and unwanted changes to Greenwich Avenue that threaten our community’s character, then this budget would be against that great historical precedent, and against the wishes of the large silent majority of residents in our town, families that moved to and live in Greenwich in large part precisely due to our historically low taxes and small and efficient government.

As elected BET members, you have the chance to set the budget and direct it to preserve what makes Greenwich great and prevent Greenwich from continuing to slowly become more like Westchester — urbanized with high taxes and loss of community. I urge you to prioritize fiscal discipline, lower taxes, eliminate unnecessary spending, and maintain what makes Greenwich unique and special.

Thank you for your service to our beloved town.
