Greenwich police are investigating a motor vehicle collision that occurred Tuesday morning involving a 14-year-old cyclist. The incident took place near the intersection of Hillside Road and Fairfield Road at approximately 7:21 a.m.
According to the police, the 14-year-old male was riding his bicycle along Fairfield Road and appeared to be attempting a turn onto Hillside Road when he collided with a vehicle that was also making the same turn. The impact caused the cyclist to strike his head against the windshield of the vehicle. Police noted that the youth was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Emergency responders arrived to find the boy conscious but disoriented. He was transported to Stamford Hospital for evaluation and treatment. His current condition has not been released.
The operator of the vehicle, who remained at the scene, is cooperating with the investigation. There were no reported injuries to the driver or any passengers in the vehicle, according to the Greenwich Police Department.
Greenwich Police’s Traffic Section responded to the scene to investigate the collision. The roadway was closed for approximately two hours to allow officers to examine the scene.
As of now, no charges have been filed in connection with the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
