The Junior League of Greenwich (JLG) marked “Find the Good Day” on September 19 by fulfilling over 50 combined hours of community service. “Find the Good Day” is a global celebration spearheaded by the Association of Junior Leagues International with over 200 Junior Leagues participating worldwide. The goal of the campaign is to inspire individuals to find the good in their community, themselves, and each other, encouraging collective action and positive change.
The JLG’s service projects on Thursday reflected this mission by addressing the needs of local children. Volunteers prepared and delivered 320 sandwiches for children at the Boys and Girls Club, Barbara’s House, and Kids in Crisis. These sandwiches provide essential nutrition for children in after-school programs, ensuring they have the energy to focus on their studies and participate in extracurricular activities.
Later in the evening, the JLG assembled 60 backpacks filled with essential items for children at Kids in Crisis, who often arrive with few personal belongings. The JLG was a founding partner of Kids in Crisis and remains committed to supporting youth well-being through its service work.
This year marks the Junior League of Greenwich’s 65th anniversary. In honor of this milestone and JLG’s ongoing dedication to the community, First Selectman Fred Camillo attended the evening celebration to issue a proclamation declaring September 19, 2024, as “Find the Good Day” in Greenwich.
“We are incredibly proud of the work we’ve done over the past 65 years,” said Stacey Higdon, President of the Junior League of Greenwich. “From building the Boundless Playground at Bruce Park to supporting Kids in Crisis and helping to develop the Greenwich Pool in Byram Park, our legacy is one of service. We invite women who are passionate about making a difference to join us and continue this important work.”
The JLG is hosting several open houses for women interested in becoming volunteers. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the League’s mission, its impact on the Greenwich community, and how to get involved. Open house details are as follows:
