The Greenwich Tree Conservancy is once again holding its Treasured Trees contest. The Greenwich Tree Conservancy’s Treasured Trees Program, in its sixth year, has highlighted special trees on private properties to create respect for the many beautiful and unique trees that are found throughout the Greenwich community.
The GTC’s Treasured Trees program raises awareness of special trees on private lands in the Greenwich community, to create respect for unique trees, to encourage forethought for any removal of nameplated trees, and to inspire future nominations.
The characteristics of such a tree would be one or more of the following:
• A special memory or story
• Its special history
• Its unique shape
• Its Spring flowers or Fall foliage
• Its size or age
Nominations will be judged by two arborists. If selected, the winning trees will have a nameplate installed and owners will be given a framed photograph at the Nameplate Installation Ceremony, a special recognition reception at Sam Bridge Nursery and Greenhouses, on October 24.
Winning trees will be enrolled in the Greenwich Tree Conservancy’s roster of Treasured Trees.
