The YMCA of Greenwich hosted its 2024 annual gala on April 6, where the generosity and support of over 275 guests led to an impressive fundraising total of $415,000.

These funds play a crucial role in bolstering critical programs and providing financial aid through the YMCA Annual Campaign, ensuring that everyone in the community can actively participate in Y programs. Held at the prestigious Greenwich Country Club, the event transported guests to the glamour of Monte Carlo, featuring casino games, a raffle, and live auction—all in support of
essential community initiatives.

The event honored long-time YMCA member, board member and volunteer, Al Brodbeck, for his efforts as an avid Y advocate and supporter. Al has been a member of the YMCA of Greenwich for over 22 years, a member of the Board of Directors for nearly a decade. “Our members and friends of members came out to make the 2024 Gala one of the most enjoyable and successful in recent times. The proceeds help to make the Greenwich Y the major resource for so many in our diverse community,” said Al Brodbeck.

Several local organizations and families, who are regular patrons of the Y, generously backed the gala through table sponsorships. Notable among them is the Waters Family, esteemed supporters of the YMCA of Greenwich and distinguished as the Platinum Sponsor of this year’s gala.

“The Greenwich YMCA is a valued community resource that brings so many people of different backgrounds and lifestyles together. Its mission is forwarded by the support of every attendee on Saturday night. The evening was such a fun opportunity to do good together,” Sandy Waters added.

Gold Level Sponsors included Emil Capital and Golub Capital. Silver Level Sponsors included The Bego Family, BNY Mellon, Star Mountain Capital, and The Zubko Family.

The gala is the YMCA of Greenwich’s largest annual fundraiser and all proceeds support the YMCA of Greenwich’s commitment to providing programs and services that serve the diverse needs of the Greenwich community. Some of these programs include:

● Summer Camp Scholarship Program
● After School Enrichment Program
● Membership for All Program
● Learn-to-Swim Programs
● Safety Around Water
● Running Start
● LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA
● Parkinson’s Body & Mind
● Adaptive Programming

“Every year, I’m amazed at the way the Greenwich community comes together to support the YMCA. From our dedicated volunteers and staff members to our generous sponsors and community partners, we are so thankful for our community’s commitment to elevating the Y’s cause,” said Matthew Skaarup, Chief Executive Officer of the YMCA.

The Gala is a volunteer-led event and is made possible by the gala committee that donate their time, talent, and treasure to make this event a success. This year’s gala co-chairs are Stacey Burton, Stacy Pacifico, and Sara Mendell.
