When Science Goes Wrong
Brother Guy Consolmagno, the director of the Vatican Observatory, spoke on the relationship between science and religion. Consolmagno argued that the study of science is the study of error, as scientific theories are often incomplete or wrong, but still provide stepping stones for the development of new and improved theories. He drew a parallel between the progression of science and the dynamics of faith, where the opposite of faith is not doubt but certainty, and the journey of understanding the universe, people, and God is a continuous process of making mistakes and moving forward.
