The Bruce Museum presents ‘Bruce Experiences: Cosmic Crescendos – A Lunchtime Learning Panel on Music, Astronomy, and the Immersive Concert Experience’, a community conversation moderated by Dr. Daniel Ksepka, Curator of Science at the Bruce Museum, featuring acclaimed visual artist Adrian M Wyard and Conductor and Music Director of the Greenwich Symphony Orchestra, Stuart Malina.
This program will take place on Friday, April 12, from 12-1pm, in the Gale and Robert H. Lawrence, Jr., and Pamela and Robert Goergen Auditorium.
During this program, panelists will delve into the intriguing interplay between music and astronomy, demonstrated in Wyard’s “The Planets Live” an exploration of music and imagery from NASA’s latest explorations. Through the generous support of Bank of America, Bruce Experiences seeks to bridge the gap between the analytical and the imaginative, offering a unique perspective on the shared narratives of these seemingly distinct worlds.
Drawing inspiration from the Greenwich Symphony Orchestra’s groundbreaking concert format, slated for April 13 and 14, 2024, attendees will gain exclusive insights into the fusion of sight and sound awaiting them. Featuring breathtaking renditions of Kernis’ Musica Celestis, Debussy’s Claire de Lune, and Williams’ Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Planets Live will be further enhanced by a mesmerizing visual accompaniment to Holst’s The Planets, curated by Adrian Wyard. Following the discussion there will be an opportunity for audience Q&A.
Tickets: $10 for Non Members/Bruce Museum and GSO members free* (*does not include museum admission).
