Old Greenwich Yacht Club Announces Seasonal Programs

The Old Greenwich Yacht Club (OGYC) announces a full slate of activities for the 2024 boating season, for its 81st year in the heart of Greenwich Point Park. The OGYC was established in 1943 to provide Town of Greenwich residents a way to experience Greenwich Point’s maritime beauty by sailboat, powerboat, or paddle, and is currently joined by over 320 members.

“As Commodore of the best located yacht club in town, I am thrilled to commemorate our 81st anniversary – a testament to our rich history and enduring legacy of Greenwich sailing. With our expanding membership and dynamic new programming and amenities, we continue to chart a course towards a vibrant future, where every sailor finds adventure, camaraderie, and the joy of the open waters,” said OGYC Commodore Ned Bancroft.

In addition to being in one of the top spots in Connecticut to watch the sunset, OGYC members also benefit from a strong racing program, sailing educational seminars, the Women on the Water community, and nature programs for kids and families. Amenities included with membership are paddle board and kayak programs, use of the waterfront clubhouse including deck and grills, launch service, and use of the club’s fleet (6 Ideal 18’s, 2 Mercury, 2 stand-up paddleboards and 2 kayaks) – to name just a few.

After years of waitlists, new moorings are now available through the Town in the protected Greenwich Cove, adjacent to the clubhouse. And, as the 2024 sailing season kicks off, the OGYC promises a robust social calendar throughout the summer, to foster the strength of its growing community of new and returning members.

One of the standout elements of the OGYC is its strong culture of sailing education, including its weekly mentorship program for all levels, making it the ideal club for individuals and families new to or reconnecting with sailing.

“As a new resident of Greenwich, I discovered not only a warm community of friends but also a profound love for sailing at the Old Greenwich Yacht Club. The weekly mentorship program for new sailors, coupled with its thriving social scene made OGYC the perfect place for our family to not just dock, but to call home,” said OGYC Rear Commodore Sonya Keshwani.
