In a significant reshuffle of its leadership, the Republican Town Committee (RTC) of Greenwich has appointed Jerry Cincotta, a member from District 5, as its new chairman. Cincotta, who became actively involved with the RTC in 2022, notably ran State Senator Ryan Fazio’s re-election campaign that same year. His ascent to chairmanship signifies a new direction for the party, following the decision of the previous chair, Beth MacGillivray, not to seek another term.
In a recent interview, Cincotta discussed his vision for the party and his approach to politics. “For the simple goal of finding good candidates and getting good people like Ryan Fazio elected to go to Hartford. Because I’ve spent enough time in Hartford to know that if left to their own devices, if they get a super-majority, the Democratic majority will turn Connecticut into California. I don’t want that. I like this town,” Cincotta explained.
The new chairman emphasized the importance of selecting candidates who prioritize the needs of their constituents. “I think a great candidate is somebody that listens and can sincerely and honestly put his constituent’s agenda ahead of his own,” Cincotta stated. He believes that elected officials should act as public servants, focusing on what is right for their constituents first and foremost.
Cincotta’s perspective reflects a broader strategic focus on strong and responsive local leadership. “I believe that it’s important to have leaders who are going to make the best informed decision possible with the information that they have. We need to find and recruit great candidates so we have great office holders,” he added.
This leadership change comes at a crucial time for the Greenwich Republicans, as the party prepares for upcoming elections. Cincotta highlights the importance of not only selecting competent candidates but also ensuring adherence to processes and deadlines. “We need good candidates, good processes, and paying attention to processes and deadlines because November is coming,” he remarked.
The reshuffling of the RTC’s leadership includes the election of Marc Ducret and Steve Warzoha as vice chairs.
Additionally, Selectwoman Lauren Rabin has been elected as treasurer, and Pam Pagnani as secretary.
As Cincotta takes the helm, his emphasis on proactive engagement and the prioritization of constituent interests over personal agendas mar s a clear directive for the Greenwich Republicans. His leadership approach, focusing on responsive and responsible governance, sets a tone for the party as it navigates the complex political landscape of the approaching November elections.
As the RTC moves forward under Cincotta’s leadership, his commitment to rollup his sleeves and get to work resonates as a call to action for both the party and its constituents.
