Riverside School is poised to host its highly anticipated annual STEM Fair on Tuesday, April 9, a celebrated event that has evolved significantly under the leadership of Principal Gordon Beinstein. Originally a traditional science fair, it now embraces a wider scope, encompassing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), underscoring the school’s commitment to fostering critical thinking and equipping students with essential skills for the 21st century.
The fair is a testament to Riverside’s focus on innovation and learning, featuring an array of student-led projects. One of the standout endeavors this year is a weather tracking balloon, engineered by two second graders. This project, already capturing the community’s imagination, involves the balloon traversing Canadian skies to gather critical atmospheric data, exemplifying the depth and ambition of student projects at the fair.
Principal Beinstein, expressing his excitement, described the event as “a dynamic community celebration of science, technology, engineering, and math.” His remarks highlight the fair’s role in promoting voluntary student engagement and a vibrant culture of innovation at Riverside.
The event will begin with an Open House from 6:00 to 7:30 pm in the school gymnasium, offering an opportunity for families, students, and distinguished guests to interact directly with the projects. The following school day will feature class visitations to the fair, providing a comprehensive experience of the students’ scientific and technological explorations.
