The Greenwich Town Party (GTP) is calling for submissions from local bands to perform at its 2024 event. The application deadline is set for Monday, March 11 at 11:59 p.m.
The GTP, slated for Saturday, May 25, 2024, is a family-friendly, music festival marking the start of summer in Greenwich.
The GTP’s commitment to local talent is evident in its Town Stage, which exclusively showcases performers with connections to Greenwich. This stage has seen performances from local bands like Chasing Romeo, King’s Highway, Happy Accidents and Rang-A-Boom, featuring artists such as Michael Mugrage and saxophonist Shane Kirsch. These performances underscore the festival’s dedication to promoting and celebrating local artists.
The GTP encourages bands from all backgrounds and skill levels within the Greenwich community to apply. The festival offers a professional-grade stage, complete with sound and lighting, and each band member will receive a Town Stage Artist pass, granting access to general admission areas and two additional guest tickets.
Applications can be submitted online at https://form.jotform.com/233205269737157. Since its inception in 2011, the GTP has established itself as a phenomenon. The festival was inspired by community festivals in Spain and was initially conceived by local resident Ray Dalio. Dalio, along with Ray Rivers and the GTP team, envisaged the event as a community celebration that would bring together our diverse residents. Over the years, the GTP has grown in scope and stature, last year adding a parade. The festival has consistently featured a mix of world-renowned artists and local talent. Its stages have been graced by legends such as Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Eric Clapton, and Santana.
The festival’s food offerings are a reflection of its community spirit, with local vendors contributing to the vibrant atmosphere. Family-friendly activities at the festival have included face painting, caricature artists, and of course bouncy houses.
The 2023 edition focused on New Orleans jazz, featuring curated performances by artists like The Revivalists, Mavis Staples, and The Dirty Dozen Brass Band.
The festival’s ticketing system reflects its community-oriented approach. A lottery system for Community tickets ensures equitable access for residents, with tickets priced at $85 and a reduced rate of $25 for seniors. Neighbor and Sponsor passes offer additional benefits.
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, the GTP is funded through contributions from Greenwich residents and businesses. This funding model allows the festival to remain a significant cultural event without reliance on taxpayer dollars.
The 2024 GTP is set to continue the tradition of community celebration and musical excellence.
