The virtual public information meeting is being held to provide the public and local community the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed project. The meeting will take place on Zoom, and registration is required. A question and answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation, which will be recorded.

The purpose of the project is to replace and upgrade the railroad signal power infrastructure on Metro North Railroad, New Haven Line signal substations at Cos Cob (Sub 309) and Fair Street (Sub 1091).  The power generation equipment at these stations have reached the end of their useful lives. The technology and equipment are outdated, unreliable, and impacts rail services.

Design for both substations is expected to be finalized in Summer 2024. Construction is anticipated to begin at both substations in February 2025 based on the availability of funding and approval of permit(s).  At Cos Cob, there are expected to be minor, short-term impacts to the sidewalk, parking lot, and short-term partial travel lane closures at Sound Shore Drive during construction.  At Fair Street, there is expected to be a short-term Brewery Street travel closure during construction.  Construction is expected to be completed at both substations in November 2026.
