On Thursday, January 17, 2024, Girl Scout Troop #50303 partnered with community leader, Bob DeAngelo, to earn Girl Scout Math in Nature badges and Tree STEM badges.
DeAngelo was particularly nostalgic to run the meeting in Mrs. Cappiali’s North Street School classroom where DeAngelo’s daughter attended kindergarten years ago. Some of the Girl Scouts remembered that DeAngelo, a jack of all trades, previously shared tips on bike safety and was separately scheduled to lead the Girl Scouts in a night hike.
For this activity, DeAngelo showed the Girl Scouts how each of the wood slices have a natural grain, imperfections, texture, color and symmetry differences as do each of us. A simple, yet powerful lesson to build Girl Scouts of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.
