The First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich will serve a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner to members of Greenwich’s senior community on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23. This meal will mark the 26th year of serving the community in this way. Beginning at 8:00AM on Thanksgiving Day, volunteers will prepare and package meals for both home delivery and in-house service. Beginning at 12:00PM, volunteers will serve meals to registered guests. Given preparation time, only registered guests will be admitted.
This year, First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich partnered with At Home Greenwich, Greenwich Social Services, Greenwich Senior Center communities, and Call a Ride to receive sign-ups and RSVPs. In total, First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich will serve over 100 meals at the church on Thanksgiving Day and will deliver over 80 meals to homes in the Greenwich area. A true church-wide effort, nearly 130 volunteers will take part in shopping for food items, cooking turkey and fixings, packing and delivering meals, and serving guests.
“We are so pleased to serve our senior community in Greenwich. This tradition at First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich is a longstanding one. We are grateful for the opportunity to fellowship with one another as we serve others,” said Hellen Kim, lead organizer of the event this year.
Presbyterian Church of Greenwich first opened its doors in 1881. Since 1957, the First Presbyterian Church Nursery School has engaged, enriched, and inspired young people throughout Greenwich and beyond. In 2007, the church completed the construction of a new four-story building with ample space for education, fellowship, community outreach, and nursery school classrooms, as well as a steeple and carillon.
