We have all seen, read, and heard what others have chosen to say or share in the press, on the street, in social media about the tragic events in the Middle East. But can there really be any words that are adequate to describe, explain or help any of us cope with something this horrible?

While campaigning for a Congressional seat and continuing once in office, Chris Shays has listened to and learned from people with different viewpoints. His experiences influenced him to become a fiscally conservative but socially progressive politician. He shared ideas that he feels would transform Congress from being led by extremists on both sides to one that is led from the middle.

The Different Seasons of our Personal Lives

During the evening Rosh Hashanah Worship Service, I experienced severe orthostatic hypotension and a syncope event during my sermon. Subsequent testing has shown that my lymphoma is rearing its ugly head, and I will require new treatments. Fortunately, the miracle of modern medicine prompts a very optimistic outcome, and I will hopefully only need to make some minor adjustments while undergoing treatments. The message of my sermon last week happened to be that we each experience different seasons in our personal lives: spring, summer, fall, winter, and hopefully, spring yet again.
