BCA to raise flag at Town Hall in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

On Friday, October 6, at 9am, Breast Cancer Alliance will kick off National Breast Cancer Awareness Month by raising the BCA flag at Greenwich Town Hall. The flag will remain visible throughout October to raise awareness of BCA’s mission.

For the first time in many years, this will be followed by a free community event, at Town Hall, where physicians will present important information about breast cancer and breast health for both English and Spanish speaking attendees. Included will be a first-hand account of how the life-saving impact of BCA’s Free Mammogram grant at Greenwich Hospital.

Guests will enjoy a complimentary light breakfast followed by a panel discussion with Barbara Ward, MD: Chief of Surgery, Greenwich Hospital, Medical Director, The Breast Center at Greenwich Hospital. Monica Valero, MD: Breast Surgeon, Yale New Haven Health, Director, Hispanic Breast Cancer Program Bridgeport Hospital, Assistant Professor of Surgery, Yale School of Medicine and Alyssa Gillego, MD: Breast Surgeon, Greenwich Hospital, Assistant Professor of Surgery, Yale School of Medicine.

That morning will also highlight GoForPink, BCA’s month-long initiative during which partners near and far will donate a percentage of proceeds to BCA. Last year, Go For Pink raised approximately $350,000 that directly impacted BCA’s grant-making capacity.

• Fashion partners with special shopping days, or exclusive promotions, throughout the month include Veronica Beard, Jenni Kayne, La Ligne, LoveShackFancy, Roller Rabbit, Vince, CaraCara, Ba&sh, Alice & Olivia, Kay Jewelers and many more!
• Riko’s Pizza Dough-Nation Tuesdays where they will donate 10% of all sales on Tuesdays throughout October at both corporate and franchise-owned locations; Riko’s will also use special pink takeout boxes and sell LTO pink Riko’s t-shirts to benefit BCA
