This summer, as many young people begin to attend summer camps, go on vacations and be involved in other out-of-school ventures, two Greenwich Greenwich teenagers, Matias and Bradley, will be busy running and building their dog-walking business in town.
These two local residents, who both recently wrapped up their eighth grade year at Central Middle School and will be entering Greenwich High School as freshmen in the fall, have been busy walking dogs these past few months and hope to continue further building this new business venture as a means to help the many furry friends in the area stay active.
“Our purpose is to help dogs in the neighborhood because nearly 40 percent of dogs aren’t getting walked at all and who knows if the other percent of dogs are getting the exercise they need,” said Matias, 13.
Last April, Matias and Bradley started this dog-walking business.
Ever since then, the two have been busy walking dogs and providing solid service for their clientele, which has been growing at a steady pace.
“We have had four clients so far and they have reported their dogs seem to be happier after our walks,” said Matias. “They also behave better.”
Certainly, the fact that Matias and Bradley, 14, are both such good friends is another factor that bodes well for their business.
“We are best friends and we decided to do this because many dogs don’t get the exercise they need and [that] can affect them for the worse,” said Matias. “So we wanted to help them out.”
Going into the summer and looking into the future, buzz about their work seems to be the most optimal way to keep making a difference in regard to helping dogs and also building their reputation, according to Matias and Bradley.
“The future plans are to walk dogs all over Greenwich and gain more recognition,” said Matias. “It has been going well, but we need more publicity.”
