Friends of Greenwich Point and the Greenwich Conservation Commission partner to present “Purple Martins”, on Sunday, July 2, 10:30am. Participants are asked to meet at the Purple Martin Gourds by the Clambake Area.
The Conservation Commission will teach about Purple Martins, how they live in colonies and need our help providing housing. The gourds will be lowered and opened so participants can see the nest with eggs. The Conservation Commission regularly counts the occupied gourds, the eggs, and nestlings. Some Purple Martins are banded with specific colors to monitor their activities.
Parking: Clam Bake Parking (#12 on map above). Walk on the gravel road, past the Clam Bake Area, to the Marsh Path.
